This tag was originally created by Leah at Hi I Love Books and I was tagged a while back by Michelle at MichEllisLife.

Here are the questions:

Phase 1 – Initial Attraction: A book that you bought because of the cover?

Phase 2 – First Impressions: A book that you got because of the summary?

Phase 3 – Sweet Talk: A book with great writing?

Phase 4 – First Date: A first book of a series which made you want to pick up the rest of the series?

Phase 5 – Late Night Phone Calls: A book that kept you up all night?

Phase 6 – Always on my mind: A book you could not stop thinking about?

Phase 7 – Getting Physical: A book which you love the way it feels?

Phase 8 – Meeting the parents: A book which you would recommend to your family and friends?

Phase 9 – Thinking about the future: A book or series you know you will re read many times in the future?

Phase 10 – Share the love: Who do you tag?

Here we go!

Phase 1: Inital Attraction/Cover buy

Treasure Darkly By Jordan Elizabeth
I don’t really even know what this is about honestly, I think it’s about a war and it’s very steampunk? But it’s gorgeous so… Lol

Phase 2: First Impressions/Summary Buy

Schizo By Nic Sheff
I bought this because I had a few dollars left of credit from selling some books to my local used book store, this was sitting on a staff recommendations shelf. It is told from the point of view of a boy who has schizophrenia and he thinks he’s getting better while in reality he is not. I have a thing for books about mental health and this I just had to have after reading what it was about. I actually haven’t read this yet either so I hope it’s good.

Phase 3: Sweet Talk/Great Writing

The Lovely Bones By Alice Sebold
I thought this book was beautiful. If you haven’t heard of this, it follows Susie Salmon who is murdered, not a spoiler, and follows her watching from heaven while her family and murderer deal with her death and move forward in their lives. I just thought she wrote it out well and I read this while I was still in High School and absolutely fell in love with it.

Phase 4: First Date/Great first in a series

The Maze Runner By James Dashner
I listened to this series on audiobook, I contribute that to why I like it so much because I know people who read the book have trouble with the unique language that they use but it was easier to listen to. I devoured this series, I loved the first one so much that I listened to them back to back and I rarely do that even if I love something. I don’t like the movies so much, but the books are awesome!

Phase 5: Late Night Phone Calls/Book that kept you up

I don’t have an answer for this… Fun fact, I am not one of those people who can’t stop reading at night. I never have said to myself “just one more chapter”. If I’m tired, I will usually try to finish the chapter I am in but I have been known to *gasp* stop in the middle if it’s night and I need to sleep 😦

Phase 6: Always on my mind

You Are Mine By Janeal Falor
This is an underrated indie book that I go back to a lot. It’s one that has stuck with me since I read it a couple years ago. It’s about a world where men are warlocks and they own women. Serena is sold by her father to a man who is a horrible human being. The women in this book are treated like dogs or worse, but something happens and she ends up going to a completely different man. She learns things about the world, life, love and herself in this book and I reference it in my head a lot when I read other books.

Phase 7: Getting Physical/Book that feels good

The Lunar Chronicles By Marissa Meyer (Paperback)
I am assuming this is about the cover of a book and not how the book itself makes me feel. The paperbacks of this series are so soft and they have those little shiny parts that are all smooth… I love them!

Phase 8: Meeting the family/book I would recommend to family and friends

A Monster Calls By Patrick Ness
It’s such a beautiful story, I can’t tell you anything without spoiling it. It’s a great book to just go into not knowing much anyway. Just make sure you have tissues, you will cry.

Phase 9: Thinking about the future/Book or series to re-read in the future

The Luxe By Anna Godbersen
This is a guilty pleasure for me, I’ve been wanting to read it again for a while so I think I might plan to do so next year. This is like gossip girl at the turn of the century and I loved it so much. I really want to go back, and I hope I love it again the second time 🙂

Phase 10: Share the love/tags

Uh, I suck at this… I’m not going to, so if you see this, it looks like fun, go do it! I usually do it that way anyway so…

Let me know if you have done this or plan to do this, comment with a link so I can see your answers!
Thanks for reading 🐬

Until next time, bye!

Mid Year Book Freakout Tag

This tag was created by Chami at Read like Wildfire and Ely at Ely Jane.

I was tagged by Michelle at MichEllisLife

Thank you, and I know it’s been a while and I don’t have a good excuse except being lazy 😦

So here we go 🙂

1. Best book you’ve read so far in 2016?

More Happy Than Not By Adam Silvera
I thought it was so real even with the small sci-fi idea he added. The characters were real and went through issues that people actually go through. It wasn’t all wrapped up in a pretty bow and I loved it so much!

2. Best sequel you’ve read so far in 2016?

Firewalker by Josephine Angelini
Love it, it was better than the first one. She has created such a cool world for her witch story and I can’t wait until I can finish the series later this year!

3. New release you haven’t read yet but you want to?

Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard
I was in the minority, it seems, of the people who loved Red Queen and I had this preordered to get the signed copy… This came out in February and I still haven’t read it, but I really, really want to!

4. Most anticipated release for the second half of the year?

Of Fire and Stars By Audrey Coulthurst
This book is about a girl who becomes engaged to a prince and then falls in love with his sister. I have heard so much about this and it just sounds amazing so I am definitely looking forward to this in November.

5. Biggest disappointment?

Passenger By Alexandra Bracken
Big shocker there… I didn’t like this book, it wasn’t what I thought it would be so I was pretty disappointed.

6. Biggest Surprise?

The Lie Tree By Frances Hardinge
I went into this not knowing a lot about it, I had wanted to read one of her books for a while and decided to pick this up when I saw it at my library. I loved it so much I ended up buying every book she had out. The story was so different and cool, it really just kept me interested. I can’t wait to get into some of her other books.

7. Favorite new (to you) author?

I’m going to stick with my above answer and say Frances Hardinge

8. Newest fictional crush?

Scarlet By Marissa Meyer
I guess I really like Captain Thorne from the Lunar Chronicles series. I don’t know why I always seem to pick the cocky sarcastic characters to love… Save for Chaol from Throne of Glass, it is my vice I guess…

9. Newest favorite character?

The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater
Puck, definitely Puck. She’s so sassy and she knows what she wants and doesn’t let anyone tell her she can’t have it. I loved her, wonderful character.

10. Book that made you cry?

The Raven King By Maggie Stiefvater
If you know about this series, you’ll know why this made me cry and that’s all I’m going to say… Like I sobbed, I had to take a minute, and honestly I didn’t think it would hit me that hard but it did so.

11. Book that made you happy?

See above answer, we waited so long for it to come out after being delayed so many times. So I was beyond happy to finish the story of the Raven Boys.

12. Most beautiful book you’ve gotten so far?

All of my France’s Hardinge books, they’re the UK versions and they all go so beautifully together. I just adore them!

13. What books do you need to read by the end of the year?

Oh man… I had originally planned to read books off my shelves and also to finish some series that I had only read one or two books in… and I have failed miserably so far 😦

The two sequels in the Madman’s Daughter trilogy by Megan Shepherd

The two released sequels in the Lockwood and Co. series by Jonathan Stroud

In the End By Demitria Lunetta

The last two books in the Fablehaven series by Brandon Mull

There are more but I need to at least finish a few of these so I can accomplish my goal.

The questions on the creators videos were a little different from each other, and so there were a couple I didn’t answer because I didn’t have an answer for them. But be sure to check their videos out!

I’m going to tag

Jen at Combustible reviews

Kendra at Reads and Treats

And Jessica at  Novel Cravings

Thanks for reading 😎

Until next time,

Monday Tag – How I Read tag

This is one Michelle from MichEllisLife did a little while ago, the original video couldn’t be found so I just linked the one she did 🙂

1. How do you find out about new books?

Mostly Instagram and Goodreads, I occasionally watch Booktube but not as often as the others.

2. How did you get into reading?

I’ve always liked to read. When I was a kid it was a lot of picture books mostly, but my mom read to us a lot so it’s just something that has been a part of my life.

3. How has your taste in books changed?

I get annoyed more by unrealistic ideas… I used to love romance in books until I got married and realized that isn’t real, or fulfilling to be honest. I remember being so in love with Twilight and swept up in the romance part but now it makes me gag… 😳

4. How often do you buy books?

Too often… I have quite a few on my owned TBR list, and I really need to curb my spending. I kind of went crazy the last couple years and was getting new books every month. I’ve cut back a lot this year and have utilized my library a lot, which is also good for libraries!

5. How did you get into blogging (booktubing is the original question)

I started on Instagram, but I didn’t really feel like I could express everything I wanted on there. I almost tried to start a booktube but it was pretty time consuming and I didn’t feel like I could get comfortable with talking to a camera. I’m much better at expressing myself through writing anyways.

6. How do you react when you don’t like the end of a book?

Grrrrrr? I don’t know, I get bugged I guess and move on… Probably write something about it on Goodreads and leave it at that.

7. How often do you take a “sneak peek” at the end of a book to see if there is a happy ending?

Never, I haven’t ever done that… I hate spoilers.

8. Who are you going to tag?

This is my Monday Tag post, so anyone who sees this and finds it interesting enough to do. Please link yours in the comments so I can read yours!

Thats it for this week, thanks for reading!

Until next time, bye 🤗

Book Buddy Game

This is a version of the Booktube Besties Game created by Selena at OHxXxSNAP13 and Kelly at Kelly’s BookSpill, we have slightly tweaked it since this is obviously not a BookTube account. My lovely BFF Michelle and I really wanted to do it though, so I filmed my part for her BookTube channel MichEllisLife and she sent me photos for my blog with her answers.

So, this is kind of a variation of The Newlywed Game where we are given 10 questions to see how well we know our Book Buddy.

Be sure to check out if she answered these questions right about me by clicking —> Michelle’s Part 🙂

Just going to jump right in!

Answer: Sci Fi, without a doubt 🙂

Answer: Rowan from Trial by Fire (Worldwalker series)

Question 4: What book have they read the most?

Answer: Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury or Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte

2/10 (I’m counting this because she text me after I told her my answer and said I wasn’t wrong and that she had read Fahrenheit 451 more than once so, yeah… Still counts)

Answer: Passenger review?  Honestly have no idea…

Answer: The Hunger Games

Answer: Throne of Glass or Cinder.

5/10 whoo hoo!

I hope you enjoyed, thanks for reading!

Until next time, bye!

25 Bookish Facts tag

I don’t know the original info for is for this tag, I was given the impression that the original is no longer on YouTube but if you know where I can find it, let me know and I’ll link it here 🙂

I wasn’t tagged by anyone to do this but it looked like fun when Michelle from MichEllisLife did it so I decided to also.

25 Bookish Facts about me 🙂

1. I can usually only read one chapter at a time, even if it’s good and I want to know what happens. Unless I’m on a reading schedule for a buddy read or something, I can rarely force myself to read more than one.

2. The first author I ever met was Brandon Mull and I was super nervous, he was very nice though.

3. Through our love of books, I met my book/life BFF, Michelle and she’s awesome… It sucks we no longer live close to each other.

4. I attended my first book festival, YALLfest, with Michelle in November and I’m hooked, I want to go to all of them!

5. While walking around during Yallfest, we passed Soman Chainani 3 times… Ironically, his was one of the books I didn’t bring due to not having space in my suitcase so I never actually got to speak to him.

6. My book collection has grown considerably in the last 2 years, and I am now on a semi ban because I am so bad at reading books I own.

7. My TBR is out of control, between my ebooks and physical books, I have over 180 books that I own and haven’t read.

8. The first book we read in my very first book club (started by Michelle) was The Maze Runner by James Dashner, I was the only one who loved it and I devoured the whole series.

9. I hated The Scorch Trials movie and I’m still mad about the huge plot re-write of the story… Don’t even get me started.

10. The only movie I loved better than the book was The Devil Wears Prada, Meryl Streep makes Miranda Priestly amazing.

11. I love middle grade books.

12. I started in the book community with Bookstagram, I love photography so that is the perfect thing for me.

13. I love Funko Pops and I wish they would make more bookish ones.

14. I am slowly accumulating classics even though I’ve only read 3 in my whole life.

15. I love magnetic bookmarks more than regular paper ones.

16. I only finished the Harry Potter series last year, I had only read the first 4 in my childhood and never got around to picking them back up until then.

17. My husband bought me a bouquet of roses made from old book pages instead of just regular flowers.

18. I have worked in 2 libraries and they were my favorite jobs besides being a mommy.

19. I am usually in the middle of 2 or 3 books at a time, sometimes it’s a book and an audiobook but I have been known to pick up several physical or ebooks at the same time.

20. I may own a couple One Direction books…

21. I may also own several Monkees books…

22. I may have also at one time, but no longer, owned a few books about Orlando Bloom.

23. When I was younger and first became a Monkees fan I wrote semi fan fiction about them, nothing dirty, but I was part of a group of fans who had a special community… And I’m not telling you what it is because I’m pretty sure it’s still on the internet somewhere lol.

24. Disney’s version of Peter Pan is still my favorite.

25. I converted my non-reader husband this year to love books, he didn’t even see it coming lol.

So yeah, there’s some fun facts about me. Sorry I haven’t been posting anything lately, I had some family visiting this month and it’s just been crazy. But I’m hoping to have some stuff up soon, I have a few books to review and also our Raven Cycle Read Along starts next month so yay!

Thanks for reading!

Until next time, bye 😀
